It took me months to get my act together, I needed to learn some new skills myself in order to be able to create and market the product. I found I kept coming up with excuses or finding something “more important” to do. More and more people started asking me to assist them in learning this new skill. It was then I realized that getting my act together to teach the social media really was my “important task”. Ask yourself “what have I done during the most difficult times?”. When things get really tough what do you do to turn things around take yourself to the next level?

1) Take control of your mind, feed and strengthen your mind every day. You are the one who must take control of your mind, don’t let your thoughts be like a leaf blowing around in the wind. You must control the inner voices. The best way to do this is to feed your mind every day, just like your body you must feed in order in order to survive and thrive.

Combat with reading (biographies), listening to CD’s, watching motivational movies, incantations and affirmations.

2) Feed & strengthen your body When was the last time you pushed yourself with exercise? When you push thru physically your body changes so does your mind. Test your body with food, one day eat all the foods you know are bad for you then take note of how you feel the next day. Follow up with a day of eating only foods that you know are good for you, again take note of how you feel the next day. I became aware of this myself by going to fast food places, a few hours after eating the burger and fries all I wanted to do was take a nap!

3) Get a role model – Find someone who inspires you. With the information available on the internet today it is a fairly easy task to find someone who inspires you. All you have to do is “Google” your question. Find someone who will show you the way, someone who has already done what you want to do. We all need contrast sometimes, contrast can show us what we want or what we don’t want.

4) Get a proven plan and take massive action, the power of massive action is something that you really want to take advantage of because as you progress towards the achievement of your goals it equals happiness. Massive action equals success and we all know how good we feel when we are successful. If your plan of action doesn’t work change your approach. So long as you continue to take massive action you will find success.

5) Feed and strengthen your spirit What are you grateful for? Do something for someone else who is worse off than you are. This makes you feel like you make a difference and that you can thrive no matter what!

I had a story that followed me for years, “Carla, you are so clumsy, we can’t let you do that it is too fragile!”  I heard that story many times while I was growing up and because I heard it over and over and over and over I too came to believe it.  Once I started building my home based MLM business in earnest I started to take my own self development more seriously.  That was when I realized that I was allowing that story from my past to be an excuse in my future.  I was making decisions based on that old story.  Self development has taught me:

The only behaviour I am responsible for is my own!

A strategy that I use to identify if I am allowing my old stories to hold my future hostage are:

Comparison:  When you find that you are comparing yourself to others, STOP.  Everyone’s experiences are different.  The way you look at a situation will be different from everyone else.  We have all heard the stories about the “eye witnesses” to an accident can all tell a very different story.  The same principle works on you.  When you compare yourself and find yourself wanting you can end up in all by yourself in your own little “pity poor me party”.  The excuse then becomes your story and unless you realize what you are doing that story will become how you live that part of your life for years to come.

For me whenever that old “clumsy” thought creeps back in; I remind myself  “I am graceful!”

Be proud of the desire to achieve your dreams. People who make fun of you are scared. Scared because they don’t know what their dream is or because they have given up on their dreams. When you decide to be steady and persistent, when you make up your mind to stay the course to your dreams you will build your home based MLM business.

Decide to never quit. You must keep doing what you know you need to do. I know people who were persistent for 10 years in building their home based MLM business before they were successful. They just kept going and going like the energizer bunny. They are extremely glad they did not give up, cave in or quit.

Sometimes you will have to cry and that’s OK.but you won’t quit. You might have to be by yourself for a while, that’s OK too, but don’t quit. When you are steady and consistent about putting the good stuff, the positive reinforcement stuff into your brain and your heart you will succeed.

It is in the overcoming of a thing that is the preparation for success. Learning the steps to take, and in some cases the steps not to take. Everything is a process you simply have to learn the process for you and just keep repeating it.

People are watching they want to know how you did it. As I build my home based MLM business people who said no when I asked them to join the team years ago are still watching. They drop me a line every once in a while just to see if I am still doing what I said I was going to do. They quickly find out Yes I Am!

You too can learn to be the energizer bunny when it comes to your dream.

We listed the property for rent in Craigslist and arranged for potential tenants to drop by while the current tenant was still there.  Much to our shock the potential tenant called on Monday and said she quite liked the place however before she would move in we would have to paint the entire place, replace the carpet and appliances.  We immediately drove out to the property.  Unfortunately the potential tenant was correct!

The carpet cleaning company came to take a look, I was hopeful because they had told me that in 5 years there hand only been 2 occasions where they could not clean the carpet.  Unfortunately that number is now 3.  The tenant had created some new habits and that was letting her children run around with freezes everywhere in the house.  The dye in the freezes when left on the carpet is impossible to remove.

Now the tenant has skipped, leaving us with $1,000’s in repair costs.  What habits has she developed recently that puts her in the position of having to skip.  I say recently because on our last check 4 months ago the property was fine.

Some of our habits were developed and created when we were young, some are new.  What kind of habits are you creating?  Being responsible for your own behavior is critical to your success in any home based MLM business, even real estate investing.  We now know that continual checks on our property are necessary even when the tenant has demonstrated good habits in the past, things can change!

Take a look at your habits, what do you know that you need to change in order to be successful in your home based MLM business?  Remember how you do anything, is how you do everything.

DREAM -  or as my strategic business coach John Di Lemme calls it your “Why”.  This is what will drive you when the going gets tough, and it will get tough.  What is your passion, how would you like to make a difference in this world.  An effective way to begin the process of figuring out your “Why” is to ask yourself; “At the end of my life what would I like people to say about me?”  Once you discover this you will find that you will actually put in the time and energy it takes to create a successful MLM Home Based Business.

BELIEF IN YOURSELF – without this belief or faith that you can actually achieve your desired results you will run into roadblocks that take you out on every turn. If, in the beginning your belief in yourself is not that strong, borrow from the beliefs of others.  Find the biographies of people you admire, read what they did, I am sure within the book you will be able to find behaviors you can copy.  A number of the quotes from Eleanor Roosevelt inspired me, I printed them out and posted them where I could see them every day.

WINNING ATTITUDE – do you see the glass as half full or half empty?  With the attitude that you can do it, you can.  Set your mind toward your goal and keep your focus on the goal line.  Do everything you can to get yourself across that goal line.  Now there will be days when this is really easy and others where it is not so easy.  Learn from the not so easy and just keep going.  When you are happy with your “why”, your goal, your MLM business it will show in your attitude.

Building an MLM home business requires change from the inside out

Change is all around us, have you noticed how the speed of change is accelerating?  The inter-net alone has provided so much information so easily to all of us.  Today if I am looking for information my first reaction is to “Google” it and for the most part I do find an answer.

As you build your home based business you want it to grow, correct?  However growth is not possible without change.  Change is inevitable – the growth part is optional.  In order for you business to grow you need to grow too.

We all go through change, but the bigger question is will you grow through the change because change does not always equal growth.  When you look around today you will see many people, perhaps even your friends and family, who go through the changes happening around them with blinders on.  Not taking advantage of all that can be learned from change.

The more reasons you have to change the easier the change will be.  Here are 3 mind-sets you can adopt now to assist you in the process of change.

1. change what needs to be changed, not what is easy
2. let go of yesterday so you can go to tomorrow
3. activate belief

We all carry baggage, the older we get the more we accumulate and the heavier it gets.  With all that accumulated baggage you are making change harder on yourself than it needs to be.  If you are not a person who embraces change here is a project for you.  Clean out that junk drawer, pick a small one to start, but make that change, recognize whether you are a saver or thrower.

If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Maya Angelou

Adopt the attitude of changing from the inside out.  Questions you can ask to yourself that will start you off on the right foot are:

• What steps do I have to take to make the changes and get the benefit?
• Who’s it going to affect and how will they react?
• How am I going to manage all of this so that it happens and I succeed?
• How’s it going to be different when I’ve made the change?
• Why am I doing this – how’s it going to benefit me?

Remember the more reasons you have to change the more likely you will be successful.  You want your home business to be a great success, write these questions out, post them where you can see them daily and you will be well on your way to success in your home business.

Can you be this focused on your home business

This happens in your business too.  Many things will happen, just like the itch, that can take you off focus.  Constant effort is required to keep your focus on building your home business.  You must keep practising, bring your focus back to what you want and what you need to do right now.

Here are 3 simple steps:

1) observe witness yourself,
2) breathe
3) snap and shift

As you build your home business you will have original ideas, everyone does.  Unfortunately not everyone takes action on the idea.  Four strategies that will assist you to focus on your original ideas and make them a reality:

1) start
2) what worked
3) what didn’t work
4) improve make better?

No matter where you begin your creations and original ideas are always in process.  As you build more ideas will come and your creation will grow.  Just like my dream of sponsoring children, it started with just one, from there we went to 10, then 100, now our dream is to sponsor 1,000 children with Plan Canada.

Creating is re-creating; in everything you do you are always making minor corrections.  Just like the rocket ship heading to the moon, course correction is always in play.  Correction is very natural, it is so sad that so many people have the belief they need to be perfect the first time.  Because that is ridiculous!

Just keep it simple and don’t dramatize it to death because eventually you will get to where you want to go.  Provided of course you never quit, you focus on your goal and do whatever it takes to make it happen.
